What Are Essential Oils?
In trees and plants, fluids or sap run through their interior to keep them alive. This sap or fluid contains essences, and the most concentrated extract of these essences is what we refer to as pure essential oils. These oils are extracted from the trees and aromatic plants, extracting from their stems and roots, as well as their leaves and flowers.
These pure essential oils are substances that contain numerous natural chemical compounds that often produce incredible healing characteristics. They can be used in a variety ways, such as aromatherapy for example. Aromatherapy is commonly used to treat both physical and emotional trauma, as the senses react to the aroma to relieve and treat inflammatory pain that may be caused by physical problems or sports-related injuries. They can also be used as a home remedy with their magnificent aromatic properties, in cosmetology and the home environment.
What Properties Do Essential Oils Have?
General properties: the smell given off by the different parts of a plant or tree (stems, roots, leaves, and flowers), is the essence itself, which contains aromatic molecules, with different properties that can help us, if we know and learn to use them well. The properties that protect the plant or tree against attacks, fungi, bacteria, and other pests; as well as to close a lesion in the stem or the leaves, are the effects that through the science and artisan techniques, are obtained for the well-being of the human body, plus other collateral beneficial effects.
Each essential oil has specific properties that correspond to the plant from which it is extracted, which will serve us for different purposes, according to their chemical components. Some stand out for their multiple properties such as eucalyptus essential oil (found in Clear Koala). It is antibacterial and antiseptic; decongestant and expectorant; purifying and refreshing; anti-inflammatory, ideal for improving rheumatic, muscular and arthritic pains. It is also used to prevent, or alleviate multiple diseases and illnesses through external applications.
Others stand out for their antioxidant properties (such as grape seed oil also used in Clear Koala). This has been reported to help reduce the proliferation of cancer cells, has an anti-inflammatory capacity, improves metabolic health, and promotes cardiovascular function. It prevents atherosclerosis, as well as many other applications, according to its chemical properties.
As indicated, through the magic of science and artisan techniques, the same protective properties of vegetables are achieved for the well being of individuals. For example, Aloe Vera essential oil (also found in Clear Koala) has the same beneficial properties for health as the original plant; it is anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-oxidant. It supports the health and recovery from skin sunburn due to its antioxidant properties. It is also recommended to use it to treat wounds and small cuts.
In cosmetic treatments, jojoba oil (another ingredient in Clear Koala) being mild oil containing Vitamin E, fatty acids, and other nutrients, is ideal for skin and hair care. Besides, it can be a “carrier” oil for other essential oils; or it may be applied on its own without any problem. Jojoba helps moisturize the skin, reduces the risk of premature aging of the skin and hair, has been known to reduce the symptoms of acne and dermatitis, and also possesses antibacterial, anti-proliferative, and anti-fungal properties help prevent dandruff and scalp infections. It also revitalizes and reduces split ends of hair and as an adjuvant to skin conditions. It is advisable to consult a dermatologist to resolve any skin conditions. Having similar cosmological characteristics, Vitamin E oil also used in Clear Koala is ideal for the maintenance of skin and hair.
It is safe to say that essential oils in the human body have medicinal, therapeutic, and cosmetic properties. They are: healing, antibiotics, cellular re-generators, antiseptics, immune-simulators, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory. They improve blood, and lymphatic circulation, balance emotions, and also have some domestic uses. If you like what these oils do, Clear Koala offers them all as ingredients, and they are of spectacular quality and their use is highly recommended.
How Are Essential Oils Used?
Important! Everything we do for the benefit of our body taken orally, is advisable to do under the care of a qualified specialist that may indicate appropriate doses for best results. When an essential oil is ingested through the digestive system, it is incorporated into the bloodstream and a specialist must endorse its impact. Doing so without consulting a qualified professional can have undesirable consequences. Today, there are medical professionals and specialists in aromatherapy that work with laboratories and develop specific formulas, according to each case.
Since pure essential oils are highly concentrated substances with therapeutic properties, it is advisable to use them with caution. As can also be deduced, that the most commonly accepted methods of application are when the oils are directly applied to the skin. For more specific and complex applications, depending on the properties of the essential oils, it is recommended to consult a trusted cosmetologist.
Please note that the only three essential oils that should be applied directly to the skin full strength are lavender, chamomile, and tea tree. All other essential oils should always be used diluted in a conductive substance (vegetable oils, clays, alcohol, never completely dissolved in water or vinegar, but suitable for certain applications).
Information: Vegetable oils are substances extracted from the oleaginous fruits of certain plants. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, and polyunsaturated fatty acids and provide an extraordinary supply of nutrients to the skin.
Dosage Of Essential Oils
When preparing a mixture, it is always advisable to consult a specialist. It is generally recommended that the dosage should be something resembling the following percentages:
- 98% of conductive substance
- 2% of essential oil
Reminder: essential oils never wholly dissolve in water or vinegar but can be useful in certain applications.
Dosage is based on preparing the mixtures for healthy adults. If the mixture to be prepared is for pregnant women or adults over 80 years of age, as well as children under 2 years of age, the recommended dose should be one-third to one-half (1% or 0.5%) of the adult dose; again consult a specialist if in doubt and these doses apply only to mixtures for human use. Combinations for home use, such as home deodorizers or home cleaning products, are used as needed and depending on the intensity of aroma desired.
Most essential oils we find in the market today have an incorporated dropper in the container that allows getting the right dose and the necessary amount for any type of application or mixture. This is because pure essential oils must be used in minimal quantities to achieve the correct dosage.
Precautions for use in Essential Oils
Do not ingest: Although essential oils can be consumed for medicinal purposes in very specific cases, this must be done under strict specialized medical supervision. It should not be done in a self-medicated way; it is not advisable. In the event of an accident, you should immediately seek medical attention from a qualified professional.
Do not apply full strength directly to the skin: Remember, the only essential oils that can be used undiluted directly on the skin are lavender, tea tree, and chamomile. For safety reasons, it is advisable to test and check on the forearm for any allergic reaction or intolerance before use. Keep in mind that all essential oils should be diluted in a conductive substance such as vegetable oils, clays, water, or alcohol.
Do not get these oils in your eyes: Eyes are susceptible, and pure essential oils are usually irritating. Seek immediate medical attention.
Pregnant women, babies, and the elderly: As indicated, the use of essential oils in these three cases should be done with the reduced dose; and recommended to be limited to the safest essential oils, which are: lavender, tea tree, and chamomile. Pregnant women should avoid chamomile oil. For these three cases, it is advisable for safety reasons to consult a doctor or a reputable specialist before using essential oil.
Tips for Preserving Essential Oils
Try to keep the “pure” essential oils in good environmental conditions. Store in a place where they do not receive heat, light, or a breeze and are best kept in an opaque glass container. Clear Koala is a “blend” of oils carefully and specifically blended in a laboratory to remain in suspension and retain it’s potency. Because of the blending process, storing in clear plastic bottles is perfectly acceptable but reasonable care such as minimizing exposure to heat, and light should be observed. This practice will help optimize their useful life, maintaining all properties in perfect condition.
It is essential to select a place for proper storage. “Pure” essential oils must be kept away from excessive heat, particularly during the summer months. One of the most suitable places is usually the bathroom cupboard, as it often has small windows and usually looks out onto the inside of the house.
Since essential oils generally tend to evaporate each time they are used, you should try to keep the container closed as much as possible. When open, you may lose part of your investment or run the risk of completely evaporating and running out of your fantastic product while the oils used in Clear Koala should never separate or become rancid, common sense should be used when storing it.

How Inflammation Can Impair Your Sleep
Inflammation is a natural, protective response of the immune system. When inflammation occurs, the immune system goes into a type of combat mode to deal with foreign pathogens that put the body's health at risk. Viruses, bacteria, and toxins responsible for creating disease and illness are targeted to help the body overcome these pathogens and the injuries they may cause. The body may experience fever, chills, swelling, redness, pain and stiffness, and fatigue. These are all signs that the body's immune system needs to be activated to fight and neutralize threats.
